The Metamorphosed Tiger

Description

The play “The Metamorphosed Tiger” is a part of the saga of The Ghumsar Resistance Movement (1753-1866) in Odisha, considered to be the earliest movement for freedom of the motherland from the British. It is a history of patriotism, commitment, dedication and sacrifice for the cause of freedom from alien rule. As the legend goes in addition to historical facts, one of the last leaders of the Ghumsar movement, the Kandha Leader Chakara Bisoyi got a boon from the Goddess Ranaghanta thereby he was able to convert himself into a tiger to fight as well as to escape from the British soldiers.
